We are pleased to announce that the University will be partnering with Great West Life for health and dental benefits, short and long term disability, life insurance and the health spending account. Critical illness and accidental death and dismemberment insurance will be provided by SSQ. These changes will come into effect January 1, 2018.
The Joint Benefits Committee managed the competitive bidding process with the support of benefits consultant Morneau Shepell. The committee includes voting members from all employee groups (MSA, Faculty and Out-of-Scope) and was given the authority to make decisions and implement changes to the University’s benefits plan. The committee’s goal was to ensure employee needs were met by a benefits plan that is easy to understand and access.
Your current benefits with Alberta Blue Cross, Manulife and RBC will continue until January 1. Watch your inbox over the coming months for more information about the new benefits plan and contact Kristie Cochrane, Manager, Benefits and Pension at <http://www.privatedaddy.com/?q=S1MGbXl8C15WTkpuQWkxLxNsalhdRU0yaQ-3D-3D_19> if you have any questions.
Important Message – Benefits for 65 and Over
For any MSA members who will be turning 65 years of age within the year or are over 65: you should have received a letter from the University advising you that you could now participate in the Employee Benefit Plan. If you did not receive a letter, please contact the MSA office right away.
