MSA Board Candidates
The university has stated that anyone who can reasonably work from home should do so. They have developed guidelines for working remotely. These can be found at MacEwan.ca/coronavirus, scroll down to the bottom of the page. If you are unwell, you are not expected to work from home.
Those who cannot work remotely (either because of self-isolation or because your duties cannot be performed at home), please discuss options with your supervisor/manager. If you are unable to reach a reasonable solution with your manager, please let us know so we can engage HR to facilitate a workable solution for everyone.
Those who are working from home should code their time as regular hours. For those who are sick, returning from travel or are in self-isolation, please refer to COVID-19 Information for Employees.
If Short Term Disability is required, refer to information in the section “Group Benefit Plan coverage during the coronavirus outbreak” on the Pay & Benefits: Flexible Benefits Plan page. Contact Disability Management for assistance.
During this challenging time, it’s important that you support your mental health. It is recommended that you set boundaries on your news coverage, stay digitally in touch with family and friends and reach out for support when you need it. Supports include:
Employee and Family Assistance Program
Canadian Mental Health Distress Line
Workplace Strategies for Mental Health
Alberta Health Services Text4Hope
Anxiety Canada and the Mindshift App
Psychological Coping During a Pandemic
As an MSA member, you also have psychological services as part of your benefit package. If you have further questions, or would like to speak to a union representative at any time, please call the MSA office at 780.497.55697 or email m**@**cewan.ca.
