Common Front Labour Action

Early this morning, the Alberta Government passed a bill ordering an end to the teacher’s strike. Under the bill, the ATA and unions could face considerable fines for non-compliance: $500 a day for individuals and $500,000 a day for the union(s). MSU officially supports the rights of workers (freedom of association, freedom of expression and freedom of assembly) including lawful protest as protected by the Charter. Since the government has invoked the Charter’s “notwithstanding clause” to remove another union’s right to strike, MSU is seeking our member’s input on the level of action that you support for us to take in this dispute. Please log into our website and provide us with your response! The survey can be found on the sidebar of our Labour Relations page at Labour Relations – MSU

Thank you in advance!
