The MacEwan Staff Union supports post-secondary education and is committed to life-long learning. One way the Union demonstrates this is through the financial awards program to its members and legal dependents of its members.
Financial Award for Members
MSU will award four (4) financial award scholarships of up to $500 each to signed MSU members who are enrolled in a credit or non-credit course. If you are a student and a member of the MSU, do take the time to apply for this award. Deadline to submit is February 28, 2026. Download an application form and criteria here.
Financial Award for Dependents of MSU Members
Each year MSU awards four (4) financial award scholarships of $1000.00 each to legal dependents of MSU members. Applicant must be enrolled in post-secondary and 25 years of age or younger. Deadline to submit is October 31, 2025. Download an application form and criteria here.
MacEwan Staff Memorial Bursary
In 1999, MSU along with the Faculty, Alumni, and Students Association donated the initial funds to create the MacEwan Staff Memorial Bursary Endowment. MSU makes on-going memorial contributions to commemorate staff members who have passed away, either while in the course of their employment or subsequent to their employment. There are two (2) $500.00 endowment bursaries annually and students eligible for these must demonstrate financial need and be a full-time student at MacEwan. MacEwan Staff Union Award
The MSU contributes to two $1000.00 scholarships through The Grant MacEwan University Foundation. Signed MSU members who are employed either full or part time and are enrolled in full time studies are eligible to apply for these awards at the site for scholarships and bursaries.
Donna-Mae Winquist MSU Bursary
In recognition of our former long-serving President, Donna-Mae Winquist, the MSU has agreed to fund a $1000 bursary in her name for 5 years. Signed MSU members (full or part time) enrolled as either part-time or full-time students at MacEwan are eligible to apply for this award at the site for scholarships and bursaries.
