Eligible Activities (include but not necessarily limited to):

Certifications and Accreditations: Formal recognition from accredited/recognized providers validating the member’s expertise (e.g. Project Management Professional [PMP], Chartered Professional in Human Resources [CPHR], etc).
Field-Specific Conferences and Workshop: Events directly linked to the member’s current or prospective professional field.
Industry-Recognized Credentials: Distinctive qualifications widely acknowledged in the industry (e.g. Cisco Certified Network Associate [CCNA]).
Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs): Online courses in the areas relevant to members current or prospective professional roles.
Relevant Seminars or Webinars: Online or in-person sessions covering topics pertinent to the member’s present or future roles.
Skill-Enhancing Courses and Training Programs: Educational initiatives designed to elevate specific skills and competencies relevant to the member’s professional growth and job performance.

Activities NOT eligible for reimbursement (include but not necessarily limited to):

Job-Required Training: Credentials or safety training (e.g. WHMIS, etc) that the employer is obligated to provide and pay for.
Travel & Accommodations: The cost of travel and accommodations for conferences and workshops can not be reimbursed.
Hardware & Software: The purchase of computers, tablets, equipment and software (e.g. operating systems, applications, etc) are generally ineligible for reimbursement. Exceptions may be made for subscriptions to specific learning applications (e.g. Duolingo, AI platforms not supplied by University).
Hobbies, Sports, Personal Interest: The MSU Health & Wellness fund may reimburse for hobbies, sports, and personal interest activities. Applications that seem unrelated to a readily-apparent career path may be questioned and/or refused at the discretion of the MSU office.
