The horrific ongoing discovery of the remains of children at former residential schools in Canada, as well as the increase in hate crimes in our community is profoundly tragic and deeply disturbing. Many MSA members may be suffering trauma at this time. Please know that there are supports available. We encourage MSA members to reach out for help:

  • Employees and/or family members seeking counselling should access Employee and Family Assistance Program

  • Psychological Services available through the MacEwan Benefit Plan

  • Traditional Indigenous counselling services are available through the kihêw waciston Indigenous Centre.

  • National support services are also available to survivors and their families through the Indian Residential Schools Resolution Health Support Program. A National Indian Residential School Crisis Line has been set up to provide support for former residential school students. The 24-hour line can be reached at 1-866-925-4419.

As well, your union is here to offer support and assistance. Please contact us at any time at m**@** or 780-497-5697.
