Collective Bargaining Q&A

As we begin a new calendar year, I extend a warm welcome to every member of the MacEwan Staff Union as we move forward together into 2026. Whether you maintain our campus, provide support services to students, advance technology or keep daily operations running smoothly, if you are working in a non-academic staff position MSU is honored to collectively advocate for your interests and well-being in the workplace.
The Board is committed to providing your union with strategic leadership, working to ensure that the future MSU reflects member priorities and aligns with our shared values of Integrity, Participation, Responsiveness, and Excellence. These values shape how we govern, how we plan, and how we represent your collective interests.
Our office staff manage the daily operations of MSU and remain dedicated to serving you directly. Their work includes providing Labour Relations support and ensuring the fair, consistent administration of the terms and conditions negotiated in our 2024-28 Collective Agreement. They also deliver the member programs, events, and activities that strengthen our Bargaining Unit and contribute to a supportive, and constructive workplace culture, in which our membership will feel ‘Significant, Respected, and Thriving’.
Together, the Board and Staff are committed to responsible stewardship of the Union’s resources, transparent decision‑making, and accessible support for all members. Your experiences and feedback continue to shape our priorities and our progress.
Thank you for your trust, your engagement, and the important work you do every day. I look forward to another year of continued collective strength.
In Solidarity,
Sarah Alexander
MSU President
